Miniature painting is unconditionally the indigenous art form of subcontinent. Its roots go back to 7th century. In different phases of time and dynasties it flourished differently and embraced influences from the surroundings. During Mughal dynasty it maturity achieved its peak that gradually went on decline during colonial period. Revival of miniature painting in Pakistan starts in 1980 and a degree started in miniature painting at national college of arts, Lahore. It is the need of the time to educate the new generations about our past and our indigenous art forms through exhibitions. This exhibition is one of the steps towards this direction.
