Erum Ashfaq

I, Erum Ashfaq , virtually a professional in field of Urban Planning and Economics, but originally was born to paint.  It was all matter of destiny that each particle of nature compelled me to the world of colors.

I’m a graduate and Masters from Engineering university Lahore, an Economist from PU. I started my professional career from UET where I taught as lecturer for three years in Department of City and Regional Planning. Afterwards I joined a semi government organization where I’m working to date.

I was completely unaware of my talent until I won first prize in a painting competition at “The City School” where jury was from NCA. This made my challenging nature more to think over to further explore my level of expertise. I finally decided to go one step further and have my own solo show. I emerged on the horizon of art world in 2010 when Nayyer Ali Dada gave me first opportunity to exhibit my art in his gallery. It was appreciated in terms of choice of compositions, the color palette and nostalgia of the subject. It also gained popularity that I was not professionally accomplished in arts from any formal institution.

Each consecutive show was a step further, kept me leaning to learn more and improve my strokes and ideas. My show at Oyster Art Galleries is another milestone to introduce my work and moving ahead.
